The Beacon School was founded in 2019 as an innovative Christian micro school in Edmond, Oklahoma. A year earlier, Founder Emily Jensen began searching for a creative, Christ-centered educational environment for her own children. When she couldn’t find a school that aligned with her vision of whole-child, individualized learning, she became determined to create one. What followed was a series of community conversations exploring the deeper “why” behind educational institutions—how they serve students well, and where they often fall short.
When The Beacon School opened its doors in August 2019, it welcomed 15 students in grades K–2. Just one year later, as the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted conventional schooling, the demand for educational alternatives surged. By August 2020, Beacon had grown to 53 students and a dedicated staff of five.
Beacon continues to thrive in response to the growing demand for high-quality, innovative Christian education in Oklahoma. We are proud to offer a learning model that helps students rediscover joy in the learning process, build meaningful connections, and pursue purpose-driven lives rooted in faith and discovery.
Beacon was intentionally designed as a response to the limitations of traditional schooling, where students can be lost in the crowd and standardized approaches often overlook individual strengths and needs. At Beacon, we believe each child is uniquely gifted by God and deserves an education that honors their identity, interests, and potential. Our whole-child model focuses on personalized learning and nurturing relationships, emphasizing curiosity, creativity, and growth.
